ℹ The Bartlett pear is the best selling pear variety in the world! This European variety is the perfect all purpose pear and is widely enjoyed eaten fresh, dehydrated, frozen and are also preferred for baking, cooking and canning because of the ability of the fruit to hold its shape and retain its sweet flavor. Bartlett produces pears that are medium to large in size and are the only pears that have a true pear shape, which has a rounded large bottom half and tapers to a smaller curved neck. The skin brightens as it ripens, transforming from green to a golden yellow. When mature but not fully ripe, Bartlett pears are crunchy, tart but when fully ripe, they develop a juicy, smooth, buttery texture with a sweet flavor. The tree has stunning white blossoms that bloom mid to early spring and fruit ripens in late summer. Bartlett Pear trees are partially self-fruitful though it is recommended they should be cross-pollinated to produce heavy and regular crops.
